Hey, just randomly checking up. How is graphic design in college going?
Hey! It's going alright. So far I've just done mostly generals, but I've done well in the art related classes I have taken. My color class was especially fun, and I learned a lot from that. Drawing was eye opening because to my surprise, I actually did better than a lot of other people in that class that I at first thought were much better than me. I'll be taking a lot more art classes next year though, like digital painting, regular painting, 3D design, and others. I often feel like I'm not really good at art, and compared to a lot of artists, I'm not, but I've had a lot of reassurance this past year that it's the field I enjoy the most. I also took an introductory 2D animation class first semester, than dropped the "animation bootcamp" class right away second semester cuz it's not my major and I didn't feel like giving myself unnecessary work, but the animation teacher actually reached out to me specifically to work on one of his personal projects and even told me he was a bit sad that I didn't take the second semester class because I was actually really good at animation and I "have an eye for it" according to him. So I guess if the design part doesn't work out, I could pursue making other people's stuff move. I'm also planning to study in South Korea for my spring semester next year, which I'm really looking forward to. I really want to travel and have never really been anywhere, so it's going to be an awesome experience. So yeah, so far things are looking pretty decent. The biggest problem I have now is just getting myself to draw more in my free time. I've been trying to do an art challenge with a friend I met in college, but I keep putting it off. I also need to get myself to work with my tablet more. I have a hard time doing anything with it, and I get frustrated really easily, so forcing myself through it doesn't always work well. Anyway, it's great to hear from you. It's been a while since we talked lol.
Wow, that all is so great! And it must be so exciting to be going to South Korea! I'm happy for you. I have also mostly been taking GEN ED classes, but I have taken a color and visual literacy class. I didn't like it as much as I thought I would... but that's because it was obviously pretty basic...making an abstract color wheel... warm and cool paintings...complementary so on so forth. Painting isn't my specialty and I don't enjoy it as much as pencil and paper, watercolor paintings are probably the only painting I really enjoy (unless my art turns out great..then the struggles were worth it haha). This fall I will be finishing up most of my GEN ED classes and I'm taking a 2D class and a Digital Media class to see which I would like to pursue more and go from there.

Not drawing a lot is my problem, too. ESPECIALLY on my tablet, haha. I understand how frustrating it is to want to draw but you've been out of practice for a while.
